Ferrosilicon Ferrosilicon is a fundamental element in the steel production process. It is widely used as the deoxidizing agent and acts as an alloying element. This alloy is produced by the reduction of silica with coke in the presence of iron. Ferrosilicon with higher silicon content is made in submerge furnaces. The usual formulation of ferrosilicon contains 70 – 75% silicon with different grain sizes. The product does not demonstrate a hazard issue to health, safety, or environment when handled and stored.
